  • Summary: I migrated (35) VMware ESXi 5.0 and Microsoft Windows Server hosts on Cisco UCS B200 M3 blade servers from an IBM DS8300 SAN to a Dell Compellent SC8000 SAN utilizing the fibre channel protocol. This migration consisted of removing the hosts from VMware vCenter Server or Microsoft Active Directory, modifying the Cisco UCS host profile boot policy, reconfiguring the fibre channel zoning on two IBM DCX 384 Backbone directors, creating the boot volumes on the Dell Compellent SC8000, adding additional volumes, and installing and configuring VMware ESXi 5.0 or Microsoft Windows Server.
