Requirements

  • Active Directory Requirements (link here)
    • Active Directory Forest | Forest functional level of Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher
    • Domain Controllers | Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard or Enterprise (or later) in the same AD site as the Microsoft Exchange server
  • Hardware Requirements (link here)
    • Processor | x64 architecture
    • RAM | 8 GB minimum (Mailbox) or 4 GB minimum (Edge Transport)
    • Page File | RAM + 10 MB
    • Hard Disk
      • At least 30 GB on the drive on which you install Exchange
      • An additional 500 MB of available disk space for each Unified Messaging (UM) language pack that you plan to install
      • 200 MB of available disk space on the system drive
      • A hard disk that stores the message queue database on with at least 500 MB of free space
    • Network | (1) Gbps (not teamed)
  • Operating System Requirements (link here)
    • Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2016
      • NOTE: It must be a GUI version of the OS (core installations are not supported)
  • User Account
    • The user account used to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 must be in the Schema Admins, Domain Admins, and Enterprise Admins security groups.
