Cluster Configuration

  • Cable the Fabric Interconnects
    • Connect the L1 port on Fabric Interconnect A to the L1 port on Fabric Interconnect B, using an Ethernet cable
    • Connect the L2 port on Fabric Interconnect A to the L2 port on Fabric Interconnect B, using an Ethernet cable
    • Connect the Mgmt0 port on Fabric Interconnect A to the management network
    • Connect the Mgmt0 port on Fabric Interconnect B to the management network
  • Configure the Fabric Interconnects
    • Configure the primary peer
      • Connect a rolled cable to the console port
      • Select console as the installation method
      • Enter Y when asked if chosen to setup a new switch
      • Enter the password for “admin”
      • Enter Yes when asked to create a new cluster on the switch
      • Enter A when asked to identify the fabric
      • Configure the cluster name (i.e. system name)
      • Configure the Mgmt0 IP address
      • Configure the Mgmt0 subnet mask
      • Configure the Mgmt0 default gateway
      • Configure the VIP for the cluster
      • Configure the DNS server(s)
      • Configure the domain name
      • Save the configuration
    • Configure the secondary peer
      • Connect a rolled cable to the console port
      • Select console as the installation method
      • Enter Y when asked if the switch will be added to a cluster
      • Enter the admin password to authenticate to the primary peer
      • Configure the Mgmt0 IP address
      • Enter the VIP for the cluster
      • Save the configuration
  • Verify the status of the cluster
    • Verify the status of the cluster
    • If necessary, reconfigure the network
