VMware ESXi 6.0 – Installation and Configuration

Preinstallation
- Verify the compute platform meets the minimum hardware requirements
- Verify the compute platform has the following network interface cards (NICs)
  - (2) – ESXi Management Network
  - (2) – Fibre Channel Network or iSCSI Network (10GbE)
  - (2) – vSphere Fault Tolerance Network (GbE)
  - (2) – vMotion Network (GbE)
  - (2) – VM Network (GbE)
- Verify the compute platform is configured to boot from the local CD-ROM drive, if necessary
Interactive Installation
Postinstallation
- Configure a DNS A and PTR record for the host
- Configure and test the ESXi Management Network
  - (2) – ESXi Management Network
  - IP Address
  - Subnet Mask
  - Default Gateway
  - Primary DNS Server
  - Alternate DNS Server
  - Hostname
  - Custom DNS Suffixes
- Install the VMware vSphere Client
- Rename the local datastore from datastore1 to DATASTORE (HOSTNAME).
- Configure Name Resolution
- Configure Network Time Protocol
